Common questions

Start with a quick answer.

These steps cover the most common iPrivate Data questions on iPhone and iPad.

01

Vault access & recovery

Use Face ID or Touch ID when enabled, or enter your vault PIN or password. If you saved the recovery key shown during setup, choose Forgot PIN? on the lock screen to create a new credential on the same device. NilApps cannot see or reset your vault credential. After reinstalling or changing devices, restore a verified encrypted backup or reconnect previously enabled iCloud Sync with the same Apple ID.

02

Encrypted backup & restore

Open Settings → Backup & Recovery to create, verify, or restore a password-protected archive. Store the archive and its password separately. Restore adds recovered items without deleting content already in your vault. A lost backup password cannot be recovered by NilApps.

03

Private iCloud Sync

Confirm that each device uses the same Apple ID, iCloud Drive is available, and iPrivate Data sync is enabled in the app. Keep the app open briefly on a reliable connection after a large import. Check available iCloud and device storage if syncing pauses. Sync is optional and cannot reset a forgotten vault credential.

04

Passwords & AutoFill

On iPhone or iPad, open Settings → General → AutoFill & Passwords, enable AutoFill Passwords and Passkeys, then select iPrivate Data as a provider. Save a website address with each login for better suggestions. AutoFill appears in Safari and supported apps when the saved domain matches.

05

Import, export & Recently Deleted

Imported files are copied and verified before the app offers any original-removal option. You can export through Photos, Files, or the iOS share sheet. If an item was deleted by mistake, open Recently Deleted and restore it before the selected retention period ends. Permanently deleted items cannot be recovered by support.

06

Smart Cleanup

Smart Cleanup reviews duplicates, similar photos, large files, screenshots, blurry photos, and other space-saving opportunities on your device. Results are recommendations only. Review every selection and confirm before deleting; the app does not silently remove your content.

07

Private Browser & downloads

Private Browser uses non-persistent tabs and provides controls for history, JavaScript, pop-ups, and tracking reduction. Supported downloads can be saved directly to a vault folder. If a page does not work, check its JavaScript or pop-up requirements, then reload it.

08

Premium, billing & refunds

Manage or cancel your subscription in iPhone or iPad Settings → Apple Account → Subscriptions. Apple processes App Store billing and refund requests. If Premium ends, existing vault items remain available to view, export, restore, or delete; Premium-only creation and tools may become unavailable.

Before emailing
